When I survey the wondrous cross
and He who suffered total loss,
my heart is whelmed with gratitude
that He'd grant me such latitude.

He could have cast me straight to hell
and ne'er attempt with me to dwell.
Instead He chose to draw me near
and paid a price so very dear.

He gave His all that I might be
from sin and shame completely free.
With praise to Christ my heart will soar;
I'll worship Him forever more.
